Our providers have the knowledge and tools to allow them to recognize symptoms that point to different communicable diseases, providing for appropriate treatment and rapid relief from symptoms.
Worldwide, more people are killed by communicable diseases than any other single affliction, and are caused by an unknown number of different germs including viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa and others. Germs that cause infectious diseases unable to be seen and they are everywhere – the air, water, soil, and both natural and artificial surfaces. People who have come into contact with the offending viruses, bacteria and other germs, symptoms do not begin right away. At the point symptoms appear, they may have unknowingly exposed others to the germs and the illness.
Communicable diseases are spread by touching, drinking, eating or breathing something that contains a germ, or microbe. They are also spread through animal and insect bites, kissing and intimate contact. The best way to prevent contracting communicable diseases is to practice good hand washing on a consistent basis, staying current and up to date with immunizations and vaccines, eating a well-balanced diet and getting enough sleep. Medicines can help prevent some types of infections. Many are only effective when administered very soon after the first signs of symptoms appear. It is for this reason that it is important to call our office as soon as you suspect that you may be ill or exposed.
Our AbsoluteCare team includes providers which are Board Certified in Infectious Disease so consultations can be arranged quickly to address any concerns that may arise.
